There is a pretty solid story that the majority of the ranch was won many years ago in a known card game that went on in Grand Saline for years. Yes, a card game in which someone actually “lost the Farm”! So don’t fall for any soft-spoken East Texan asking you to come by for a friendly game of cards.

There are 4 small lakes stocked with Bass, Catfish, and Red Eared Brim, who share the lakes with eagles, ducks, geese, and even a few beaver. Little Saline Creek runs north for 24 miles and empties into the Sabine River.

Pinoy Ranch Fishing

The ranch features four stocked lakes for fishing (bass, catfish, and red-eared bream) and opportunities to spot wildlife like ducks, geese, and beavers along Little Saline Creek. At night, the ranch’s multicolored lights create a magical ambiance—some say they resemble stars, while others hint at a deeper mystery. Elevated decks and covered areas provide spaces to relax and soak in the surroundings.

Huntsbville State Park Mountain Biking

Mountain biking in East Texas combines scenic beauty with thrilling rides. The region’s trails cater to all skill levels, from the shaded, multi-use paths at Huntsville State Park (1 hour 45 minutes from Pinoy Ranch), where riders navigate forested trails with sandy sections and big roots, to more technical routes in Tyler (45 minutes away), a hub for biking with trails like those at Lindsey Park, known for tight turns and fast downhills [Ref web: 0, 23]. The Northeast Texas Trail, stretching 131.8 miles, is the longest biking trail in the state and offers a mix of open fields, juniper forests, and creek crossings for a full-day adventure (accessible sections start about 1 hour away in Powderly)

Caddo Lake, the only naturally occurring lake in Texas, spans 25,400 acres across the Texas-Louisiana border. Its 50+ miles of paddling trails wind through hauntingly beautiful cypress swamps draped in Spanish moss, where you might spot alligators, ospreys, and bald eagles. The Hell’s Half Acre Paddling Trail (2.5 miles) is a great option, leading to RiverBend Restaurant for a post-paddle meal of fried catfish or alligator. Canoe and kayak rentals are available at the park.

The Lone Star Hiking Trail, located about 1 hour 45 minutes from Pinoy Ranch, is Texas’ longest continuous hiking path, stretching 96 miles through the Sam Houston National Forest with an additional 32 miles of loops. This beginner-friendly trail offers flat to gently rolling terrain, winding through diverse ecosystems of pine forests, hardwood groves, and swampy bayous, where you might spot wildlife like deer or the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. Marked with aluminum blazes, it’s ideal for day hikes or thru-hiking, with free parking at 15 trailheads and resupply options at Huntsville State Park. Best hiked in fall, winter, or spring to avoid summer heat, this trail promises a peaceful East Texas adventure.
